"Mr. President, dear colleagues, since 2000, out of the 8 million new jobs, 6 million have been held by women. We might think that, truly, the time of equality of chances or even of the positive discrimination of women in the gender relations has come. Nevertheless, we cannot say this because the reality of these new jobs, of the 6 million women, contradicts us. We cannot truly handle the risk of aging and demographic decrease that Europe and the Member States are dealing with today, if most of the employment for women has been precarious, part-time or poorly paid. The salary difference in Europe remains 15% in favour of women. Member States, in general, and Romania is no exception, will have to continue to invest in education free from gender stereotypes, to adopt clear policies that would conciliate the family and professional lives of women and men. I would like to congratulate Ms Rapporteur for her extraordinary work and I truly believe that we need annual assessments of the results of actions included in the gender equality roadmap; we need a final agreement on subjects such as costs of maternity, parental leave, individualization of pension rights and the social security and taxation systems."@en1
