"Mr President, I rise on an issue of an animal disease, blue tongue, which has spread through Europe – through France, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium; and now we have one case in the UK. It is a difficult disease to find and it is a difficult one to diagnose, and the long-term solution is a vaccine.
I recommend to this Parliament, the Commission and the Council that we do everything in our power to get a vaccination in place, because this disease has killed over 1.8 million cattle and sheep in the last 10 years in Europe. So we need to do something about it seriously. I would urge you to put all pressure on the Commission, the Council and this Parliament to get a vaccine available."@en1
