Doing away with barriers and inefficient solutions in the area of consumer protection would make life easier for the millions of citizens who move between Member States of the Union. Clear and easily comprehensible provisions that are consequently easy to implement help to boost consumer confidence in the functioning of the single market. They also have a positive impact on the purchase of goods and services. A key issue at present is setting a timetable and taking urgent action regarding the implementation of the content of the Green Paper and the report on the review of the consumer acquis.
