We are thus supporting the quickest possible way of achieving the full liberalisation of postal services in Europe. At the same time, we regret that that there is strong opposition to fulfilling earlier objectives of accomplishing the liberalisation by no later than 2009. Today’s decision is a step in the right direction, even though we had hoped to have managed completely to deregulate postal services within the ten-year period set aside for using the Lisbon process to make the EU into the world’s most competitive economy."@en1
