".
Mr President, I am pleased to note that the Commission and Parliament share the same opinion on the importance of reconciling working life and family life, particularly in the context of promoting equality between men and women. This is true, as this Parliament initiative emphasises, before and after young people enter the labour market.
It is too soon to turn to the follow-up to the consultation and reconciling working life and family life. This is the time to listen; the time to reach a decision is still to come. The Commission will consider the outcome of the second phase of consultation, any negotiations between the social partners and an extended impact assessment. It will then decide whether it is necessary to put forward proposals supplementing existing legislation relating to reconciliation."@en1
