"Thank you, Mr President, ladies and gentlemen. I wished to explain that when it comes to work, and to decent work in particular, our Constitution is wholly based on work. I also wanted to make it clear that, throughout the years, Labour governments have always sought to improve conditions in the workplace for our country’s labour force. It is important to note that whenever there has been a case where an employee has improved the quality of his job conditions, this was down to the initiative of Labour governments. I would also like to praise the unions in Malta, especially the General Workers’ Union, for their hard work and efforts in the interests of Maltese workers. Thank you."@en1
