"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, the call for European unity in order to strengthen the Union’s external action is sacrosanct but tautological. What we need to understand is what and where are the forces that hinder European unity, because it is clear that they exist, both outside and within Europe. We have heard some of them in this debate.
The missiles that Washington intends to install in Poland – missiles to be used to shoot down non-existent Iranian missiles – are in fact directed at European unity itself, with the intention of undermining if not destroying it. There is nothing accidental in this: it is no mistake, rather it is a plan devised by the extremist forces present among the elite in the United States of America. Such provocative action could never have even begun, however, if there were not forces in Europe willing to go along with it.
Identifying and neutralising these forces is the key to strong European international action."@en1
