When the local public prosecutor went to the airport, they refused to let him enter. My question is: can the Prime Minister of Greece enter this sort of American base? Can Mr Barroso enter the base in Souda? We have a state within a state. At some point we need to rein in this American suzerainty. It is leading us into an impasse. It is leading us into conflict; conflict with Russia, where in essence – according to the newspapers – the cold war has started, conflict with Iran and conflict with Iraq. A bad precedent has been set which we must stop right now. We must not be content with findings. We must take action to put things on an equal and harmonised footing with the Americans."@en1
