"I am delighted to see this Green Paper on our parliamentary agenda. Obesity is a growing problem. There are more and more obese people who run a far greater risk of heart and vascular diseases. I am convinced that, in the areas where Europe can add real value, such as consumer information (nutrition labelling), we must take real action. Ultimately, the lion’s share of the responsibility falls upon the Member States themselves, in that they have to make an all-out effort to get their people to eat more healthily, and, above all, to take more exercise, for that is at the heart of the problem."@en1
