"President Băsescu, ladies and gentlemen, I wish to thank you, Mr President, on behalf of all of us here. Let me tell the House that I thought the words with which the President began his speech were very fine: ‘We, in Romania, can again speak freely’, and it is freedom of speech that makes freedom of action possible.
Your commitment to reforms in Romania is a sound basis on which your country can have a good future, and your commitment to reforms in the European Union and to solidarity within it gives our progress together as a community of Europeans the best possible start.
Your country, Romania, is a land with a great history; I wish it a bright future, and you – speaking personally, all the best; let us work together on a strong, democratic and transparent European Union. Thank you very much, President Băsescu."@en1
