"Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, I voted in favour of Mrs Gebhardt’s report, mainly because I come from a border area, where these difficulties are experienced on a daily basis. I therefore believe that these are positive measures, which will specifically benefit border areas.
I rather regret the years of controversy that have surrounded the draft Services Directive with which we are dealing today and which, in the end, has received very strong support even in this House, support that I feel is well deserved. I hope that, in future, pro-active and positive proposals will prevail over controversies."@en1
