"The Danish Social Democrats have voted in favour of the Commission proposal whereby it would be possible for the Member States to apply voluntary modulation within agricultural policy, and we have thus voted against Parliament’s report, which rejects the Commission proposal.
It must be emphasised that the Danish Social Democrats would prefer to see comprehensive, compulsory modulation. Since, however, it has not been possible to reach agreement to that effect, we see voluntary modulation as a serviceable alternative. It must be emphasised, however, that compulsory modulation – involving the long-term abolition of direct subsidies – continues to be the objective."@en1
