I can only repeat what I said at the outset, i.e. that the Commission proposal is consistent with the European Council’s request. As Mrs McGuinness rightly said, we have tried to align it as much as possible with the existing rules on obligatory modulation and financing of the rural development policy. Tomorrow, if – or I should say when – the European Parliament rejects the Commission’s proposal, I intend to raise the issue with my fellow Commissioners in order to consider our position carefully. That is completely in accordance with the framework agreement between our two institutions."@en1
