"Madam President, this is an aim we all share: children can be protected from convicted individuals and there are different ways of doing that in the Member States. For example, in my country there is a system in place where an employer has the right to obtain the criminal records of those seeking or applying for certain kinds of job and to use them to consider whether the person is suitable for the job. Such jobs, however, are very precisely defined. There are different ways of doing this in the Member States, and that is one reason why progress in this matter has been slow in the opinion of many Members of Parliament."@en1
