"Are EU measures to combat breast cancer more effective than similar measures within the framework of established, internationally recognised organisations with broad expertise, such as the World Heath Organisation (WHO)? The June List’s answer to that question is ‘no’. The European Parliament must not dictate to what extent the Member States are to implement significant measures such as breast-screening, information campaigns about breast cancer, research into breast cancer, the setting up of cancer registers and the establishment of centres designed to provide information about breast cancer. It is better for urgent coordination and cross-border cooperation to take place within an organisation such as the WHO than within the EU. I have thus voted against the current resolution."@en1
