lpv:translated text	". The Community strategic guidelines for 2007-2013 have finally been adopted by the European Parliament. I voted in favour of the rapporteur's recommendations approving these guidelines. Nevertheless, during the debate I drew the Commission's attention to the challenge of cross-border cooperation, which should enable us to reduce the disparities between the Union's border regions, provided the unequal amounts being allocated from the Structural Funds as a result of the statistical nomenclature do not hinder the objective of cohesion and do not increase inequalities. It is vital that we create the conditions for balanced economic, social and territorial development on both sides of borders and pay special attention to programmes aimed at achieving cross-border cooperation."@en1
