"Thank you, Mrs Lehtomäki, for your detailed answer. I am also very pleased that there has been such a strong and prompt reaction to these incidents, for I believe that there are many who, like myself, think that things are moving in the wrong direction. This event is proof of the fact. When one cannot even have a debate on these issues without being attacked in this way, fundamental work needs to be done.
I therefore wonder if there is any possibility of the Council taking the initiative of supporting the women’s organisations that exist. Parliament recently adopted a report on women in conflict management, at which time we talked about how we could take the next step in this area. My follow-up question arises, then, from my belief that many people are concerned about the fact that things are moving in the wrong direction."@en1
