I asked smokers if they would fly on a smoke-filled plane and they said ‘no’. As you know, there is no Community legislation on banning smoke on planes. It is the Member States that decide on that. Therefore it will remain the competence of the Member States. Given the recent messages from Germany regarding promoting a smoke-free environment, I am hopeful that they will look into that and that special legislation will come into force in 2007."@en1
