Violence against women, children and young people is an ever-increasing phenomenon and a fundamental breach of the human rights of some of the most vulnerable sections of our society. I particularly welcome the emphasis in the report on tackling the trafficking of people. Approximately 80% of the victims of such trafficking are women and girls, and up to 50% are minors. My hope is that this strategy at European level can help assist and support those most at risk from violence."@en1
