I also support the principle of the inclusion of aviation emissions in the Emissions Trading Scheme and hope the Commission will come forward with a workable proposal. I abstained on a number of paragraphs simply because I do not believe the impact of the proposals has yet been fully evaluated. For example, I abstained on the call for an end to VAT exemption for air transport because it is not clear if this will help tackle climate change or merely hurt the less well-off traveller."@en1
