It is with but little enthusiasm that I have voted to approve the financial perspectives and the Interinstitutional Agreement. Whilst the budget lacks ambition, we would, without this agreement, be unable to offer the new Member States any prospects at all. Moreover, the many programmes would be at risk of grinding to a halt. A new crisis resulting from rejecting the financial perspectives would represent a huge blow to the European Union."@en1
