The new agreement provides for a significant reduction in the number of fishing licenses awarded to the Member States. The number is to fall from 500 to approximately 100, with the loss of some important categories of fish, namely crustaceans and cephalopods. In any event, I still believe it important for the Community fleet, and the Portuguese fleet in particular, to continue to be able to fish in Morocco under a Partnership Agreement.
