However, we see, at the same time, how the event would take on new dimensions in view of the organisation surrounding it and the EU’s commitments. The idea of the European Capital of Culture is a good one, so good in fact that it could be funded in many other ways, for example through local sponsorship. Financial resources from the European Union should not be necessary to this project’s survival.
