The river flooded thousands of acres of agricultural land, damaging both horticulture, in areas that had been sown, and animal farming, given that over 3 000 head of sheep, goats, pigs and cows drowned. Numerous villages were flooded and many houses were totally immersed under water. Alongside the relevant action which will be taken by the individual Member States, is the European Union prepared to demonstrate its support in this difficult time in order to send a message to the farmers in the countries affected that the European Union is by their side because, as we know, solidarity is the leading principle in the European Union?"@en1
