"Madam President, Commissioner, thank you for your reply and your honesty, but you have not convinced me that the Commission is addressing the issue with the necessary seriousness for a sector which is so important to the completion of the internal market and the competitiveness of the European Union.
It would appear to be clear that we shall have a reduction – and a significant reduction – from the Commission proposal. Solutions in this sector take time. Planning takes time and resources. Have you not already thought about better partnerships with the private sector, for a larger share on the part of the Member States, about greater involvement by the European Investment Bank? I am surprised that you are not preparing yourselves in that direction."@en1
