I was pleased to support the report, as the measures in it are important in ameliorating the disastrous effects of the common fisheries policy. The CFP should be swept away; it has been a disaster for fishing communities, the fishing industry and indeed the fish themselves. It does Europe no favours, as it clearly diminishes the EU in the eyes of our citizens to have such an unworkable policy."@en1
