lpv:spoken text	". I welcome the new regulation which is primarily designed to strengthen and improve social legislation for drivers engaged in road transport activities. The regulation lays down four main elements. It establishes that all new vehicles should be fitted with digital tachographs and it defines a ‘regular daily rest period’ as any uninterrupted period of rest of at least 11 hours, which alternatively may be taken in two periods. In addition, a new definition on ‘driving time’ has been agreed upon, as well as the provisions of the European agreement concerning the work of crews of vehicles engaged in international road transport, which are now being aligned with those of the regulation. Finally, it acknowledges that the maximum weekly working time of 60 hours per week must be respected. All in all, I agree that the regulation contributes significantly to greater road safety in Europe."@en1
