"Mr President, I shall be very brief. I should like to thank the European Parliament teams which took part in the conciliation meeting with the Council on 6 December 2005. I extend my particular thanks to Vice-President Roth-Behrendt and to rapporteur Jonas Sjöstedt, whom I also congratulate on the result. The discussions in the Conciliation Committee were constructive and I believe that Parliament achieved concessions on the vitally important issues of financial guarantees, excavation sites, transitional provisions and acceding countries and on a number of other important points. The Commission supports the conciliation text with particular satisfaction and I hope that Parliament will ratify the positive result achieved by its negotiating team."@en1
