".
Mr President, I understand the message from honourable Members, but I strongly disagree that we have not answered the question; indeed, we have. If the answer is not convenient for the honourable Member, that is something else, but I have answered and I will answer again.
The Premier League sells rights to its matches to media operators throughout the world, including a large number of EU countries. Premier League football is very popular, for example, in Ireland, and the Premier League has changed its rights policies as regards Ireland as a result of the Commission’s intervention. To put it plainly, there is a clear cross-border element, which the Commission was well placed to address when the case began in 2002. Whether there are a couple of lawyers or far more than a couple, that is up to them; we are willing and able to deal with this case and have had some success, for we have solved a problem in which competition was harmed."@en1
