Over recent years, Parliament has campaigned continuously for this and called for equivalent content to be subject to equivalent legislation, even in the digital age. In this respect, the Commissioner’s proposal is, in my view, a ‘fitness programme’ for the introduction of digital television in Europe. My questions today relate to just two issues. Firstly, the Commissioner has said that she intends to provide for increased self-control and co-regulation. Could she elaborate on this for us? Secondly, what are the consequences of product placement for public service broadcasting in Europe? Are there any implications as regards financial aid?"@en1
