"I have always spoken up for culture, but this programme removes resources from national culture budgets. Even the proposal of EUR 408 million is an increase of 72%. When the European Parliament then increases the figure to EUR 600 million, it is too much. Amendment 29, about strengthening a sense of European citizenship, is an example of the negative Euronationalism that is constantly prevalent in the Committee on Culture and Education. Moreover, the programme is far too burdensome to administer, a factor that cultural workers in all countries are agreed is an obstacle to creative development. I am therefore voting against this proposal."@en1
