"Question No. 56 by Zbigniew Krzysztof Kuźmiuk ()
On 11 May 2005, the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the simplification of the common market organisation in fruit and vegetables, in which it urges the Commission to strengthen support for producer organisations and introduce import quotas for the soft fruit market. This came after MEPs had repeatedly addressed the matter within the Committee on Agriculture and in letters to Commissioner Fischer Boel. Unfortunately, there has as yet been no firm response from the Commission with regard to soft fruits. In Poland, the situation in this market has been disastrous in 2005. The buying-in price of strawberries, raspberries and currants has been considerably lower than production costs for the second year running. Does the Commission intend to apply the solutions suggested by Parliament in its resolution of 11 May in time for the 2006 harvest?"@en1
