". Our desire to improve children’s health has been the driving force behind the Union’s policy on support for research and development into new medicinal products for paediatric use. This report contains a number of measures to ensure that all research and development regarding these medicinal products, and the final authorisation for their paediatric use, be reviewed by independent authorities that are specialised in this field. Furthermore, the report proposes coherent measures on administrative deadlines, whilst safeguarding quality levels and ensuring that exchanges of information in the field can take place. This is a field of research that is capable of bringing us great joy in terms of fighting disease. We must therefore take care to ensure that all measures that we take reflect the need for quality and rigour in pursuit of these goals. I therefore voted in favour of the Grossetête report."@en1
