". I wish to express my full support for this recommendation, which is aimed at ensuring an effective level of protection of minors and human dignity in all audiovisual and information services. Young people spend more and more time on the Internet, where millions of pages with pornographic content can be found. Accordingly, both providers and users have a responsibility to ensure that this new technology can be used with confidence. The protection of minors entails politicians, businesspeople, teachers and parents working together. Education syllabuses must include Internet education programmes aimed at children, but also for adults and parents, and information campaigns must be set up to alert the general public to the dangers posed by Internet use. I particularly welcome the creation of a domain name (.KID), which would provide a secure Internet area regularly monitored by an independent authority. Lastly, service providers should start to provide easy-to-use parental software and offer subscriptions to access services intended specifically for children with automatic filtering at source. This would make it possible to restore a degree of confidence in the use of the Internet."@en1
