". The excessively complex rules which fishermen are expected to comply with, have become more and more burdensome to the industry, as well as enforcement agencies, as the Common Fisheries Policy has evolved. In one instance recently, a Scottish boat was wrongly accused of using illegal fishing gear because the enforcement agency wrongly interpreted current rules. I supported Mr Casaca's Report because in theory, the use of new technology has the potential to ease some of the burden of paperwork but the best course of action for Scotland would be to scrap the CFP and return fisheries management to local control."@en1
