"We have chosen to vote against this report. We are highly critical of the EU’s common fisheries policy. However, it is important to be able to see EU vessels reliably complying with the rules. We therefore support the principle of electronic registration and reporting of fisheries activities. We believe, however, that the costs incurred in putting vessels onto a computer system should not be borne by the EU. Individual Member States should decide on the funding. The obvious solution is for the whole cost to be imposed upon the fisheries industry."@en1
