". The point made by the honourable Member is an important one in terms of work that can be done collaboratively. I can assure him that, if one looks, for example, at some of the treasures from the art world that have been brought to the United Kingdom and taken to other European countries in recent years, it reflects that fact that there is much sharing of cultural heritage across European boundaries. That does not, however, diminish the points that I made. In this case, the matter is more appropriately dealt with bilaterally between the respective national authorities. I would also reiterate the point that the British Museum trustees are the appropriate body with whom these discussions should be taken forward, rather than it being a matter for national governments in the first instance."@en1
