"We believe that the EU is a union of values and that Turkey is part of its neighbourhood. We therefore also support the report aimed at increasing the role of women in Turkey.
We support Turkey’s closer association with the EU but believe that neither Turkey nor the EU is at present ready for union. Turkey does not, for example, fulfil the human rights requirements for becoming a member. The EU must also change. The rigid bureaucratic structure and the expensive agricultural policy must be fundamentally reformed before Turkey can become a member."@en1
