"The motion for a resolution on the reform of the UN forms part of efforts by the imperialist powers to conduct a reactionary reform of the founding principles of the UN, in a bid to record and 'legalise' the provisional imperialist rule as 'international law'. The motion for a resolution and the statements by the Council and the Commission reveal how the ΕU and the USA are operating on the same frequency against the peoples and endeavouring to cloak their aggressive and barbaric policy in the mantle of the UN. Among other things, they want to safeguard the right of intervention and of preventive war on the pretext of combating terrorism and to export democracy, so that they can strike at countries and grass-roots movements which oppose imperialism and do not choose capitalism as their social system. The proposals by the UN Secretary-General dictated by the USA and the proposed EU and US positions seek to build a global mechanism consisting of the UN and the imperialist organisations (IMF, WTO, WB, G8 and so on) in order to consolidate the rule of big business. Nonetheless, the disagreements and infighting between them are exacerbating and, at the same time, strengthening the people's fight. The UN is not suffering from democratisation measures. What it needs is for imperialist rule to be overturned and for the correlation of powers to change so that the preconditions can be created to international relations based on equality between states and peace."@en1
