That position does not mean that we support the Commission’s proposal. We are well disposed to individual wordings in Parliament’s report, for example to the effect that measures relating to highly migratory species are to be laid down by regional fisheries organisations. We are voting against the report as a whole because we do not believe that the EU should work on fisheries issues. We recommend that regional fisheries issues be handled through cooperation between the countries concerned."@en¹
