lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of this regulation. There are too many claims being advanced today for our food products, which only perplexes consumers when they come to make their choices. Moreover, some excessively general assertions such as ‘healthy’ or ‘good for you’ have absolutely no scientific foundation and may even deceive the buyer. It therefore seems perfectly fair that those who market foodstuffs in packaging on which nutritional claims are made should be able to justify them. This is the spirit in which the regulation was devised. At the same time, this system must not penalise local producers and small and medium-sized enterprises. Accordingly, I am in favour of measures for the provision of special assistance to these businesses to enable them to prepare supporting documentation and meet the extra cost this entails."@en1
