".
The internal market presupposes cooperation, together with harmonisation of the Member States’ legislation. It is, however, important to take account of proportionality in legislation and of the role and significance of the national parliaments. We are of the view that the Member States should in the first place decide on rules concerning nutrition and health claims made on foods.
We are critical of quite a few of the Commission’s articles, for example Article 4 stating that the Commission should be entitled to establish nutrient profiles
that must be respected when it comes to health claims made in advertisements, or Article 11 concerning rules governing which implied health claims should not be permitted. The European Parliament has, however, contributed a number of positive amendments, which is why we have chosen to support the report as a whole."@en1
