lpv:translated text	". The Cercas report, which the MEPs have approved despite numerous gaps, calls for the deletion of the ‘opt-out’ clause that the Commission proposed to keep. This clause, allowing certain Member States to push the legal working week beyond 48 hours, worsened social dumping in Europe. In a Europe without borders, French companies bound to the 35-hour week will not be able to compete with their competitors based in European countries that make use of the opt-out clause. However, we do not have any illusions. Adoption of Mr Cercas’s report is just a first step. At first reading today, the European Parliament has forced back the European Commission because many MEPs are afraid of the French electorate expressing their displeasure on 29 May."@en1
