"Question No. 34 by Gay Mitchell () Citizens of Member States have a tendency to view the EU as far removed and abstract, despite the fact that the European Union has substantial influence on many areas of their daily lives. According to the latest published Eurobarometer survey, which carried out its fieldwork in November 2004, approximately one third of Europeans have never even heard of the Constitution. There is also a huge problem of misinformation. As we have seen in France, discussions concerning the Constitution are often too closely associated with separate issues such as Turkey's accession to the EU. How is the Commission providing clear communication to citizens on the Constitution? Will the Commission commit to doing more to dispel the myths currently circulating about the Constitution?"@en1
