The state provides for the perpetrator by affording him legal protection, while the victim must obtain help alone. I am therefore delighted that today you explicitly emphasised your intention to devote special attention to the victims of organised crime. I am also pleased since the political programme of the Group of the European People’s Party (Christian Democrats) and Euroopean Democrats highlights this very issue.
