lpv:spoken text	"Mr President, I am sure everyone here today will be aware that last Thursday there was a general election in Britain. It was conducted under the first-past-the-post voting system, which is inherently unfair and is no longer defensible in the 21st century. It produced some strange results: the Labour Party that now forms the government won 55% of the seats based on only 35% of the vote. Thirty-nine per cent of the electorate could not be bothered to vote. Britain now has a government put in place by only 21% of the electorate. In 1999 the European Union forced Britain to adopt a form of proportional representation for the European parliamentary elections. Since the European Commission is now the real government of Britain, perhaps it could do us a favour and force Britain to adopt a form of proportional representation for parliamentary elections. Under a fair voting system, the UK Independence Party could gain representation in the British Parliament and use it eventually to bring about our desired goal: Britain’s unconditional withdrawal from the European Union."@en1
