"This draft resolution is a confused mass of text in which everything that any civilised person would want to see implemented is considered without the least regard to the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality. Nobody would oppose efforts to counter and eliminate poverty and unemployment as soon as possible. Nobody would object to having taxes that are simple and fair rather than complicated and unfair. Nonetheless, the principle of subsidiarity – which is supposed to be a guiding principle of EU cooperation – means that the Member States should have the right to weigh up differently the conflicting objectives that democratic government has to deal with. The underlying purpose of this draft is to shift even more political decisions from the Member States to the institutions of the EU. The June List has been mandated by its electorate to oppose such centralisation of power in Europe and therefore rejects the draft in its entirety. Moreover, we have opposed several amendments that we would in principle support in the Swedish Parliament, but which we oppose at EU level out of concern for democracy in the Member States. This applies in the case of Amendment 32, for example."@en1
