lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, President-in-Office of the Council, ladies and gentlemen, I believe we are virtually unanimous at the moment. When it comes to the vote, we shall see. Certain members are recommending a little more gentle education for the Hezbollah delinquents, but the fact is that we are about to vote on a resolution which coincides with the appeal of the 140 Syrian intellectuals to President Assad, and with that made by a further 33 intellectuals on 25 February to their Lebanese counterparts. We are virtually all agreed on that. However, unlike many of you, I see this unanimity as a source of concern, because it is normal in such serious situations for any agreement reached to be based on information which is too generic or on a minimal level of information which is inadequate. To conclude, I note that the European Union is continuing strategically to recommend national independence as the goal to be achieved in the Middle East for its peoples, for peace and for the interests of Europe. Think what would have happened if the same thing had occurred in Europe after the world wars. It seems to me that, from that point of view, we are all really on the sidelines and are giving bad advice."@en1
