However, I am not convinced that the programme presented to Parliament strikes an appropriate balance between being ‘pro-business’ while continuing to promote social inclusion and sustainable development. Economic, social and environmental policy do not appear to be addressed in an integrated way. For example, I am concerned that no proposals to promote equality of opportunities between men and women or to reduce economic disparities between regions are included in the work programme. I also find it unacceptable that the Commission does not foresee any legislative action in the priority area of climate change."@en1
