Mr President, two minutes is too long to summarise the substance of the work we have carried out. Everyone is aware of the merit of the proposal and it is commendable that we have managed to reach an honourable compromise between the Commission, the Council and Parliament, which means that Parliament can vote – I hope with the broadest possible majority – for this report.
The signal is clear: Europe is committed to considering vocational training one of its trump cards in order to win the battle of international competition, and to this end it is sending out a message to the enterprises and individual countries of the Union. This message has an intrinsic value which, if supported by a unanimous decision of Parliament, would take on even more importance."@en1
